Child Support

Denver Child Support Lawyer

Children have the right to receive child support, and parents have the duty to provide that support. Child support in Colorado is based on strict guidelines. It is rare that the courts will deviate from the support that is determined by the child support guidelines. Watts & Hendrickson, PC represents clients during the divorce process and issues that arise regarding the children.

For experienced representation in matters involving divorce and children, contact an attorney from Watts & Hendrickson, PC to arrange a consultation and learn your rights. Since 1985, we have helped parents and children in support issues. From our office in the Denver Tech Center, we serve clients throughout the Denver area, including Arapahoe County and Douglas County.

How is Child Support Determined?

Child support will be based upon a variety of economic and non-economic issues. Child support is for the benefit of the children and is used to provide kids with food, clothing, shelter, health care, and other necessities. Each parent will need to provide full disclosure about issues such as:

  • Number of children

  • Monthly income of each party

  • Spousal support

  • Children from previous relationships

  • Child care expenses

  • Education expenses

  • Health insurance premiums

The child support determined by state statute has little room for movement, although exceptions can be made for low income earners and parents of children with medical expenses.

Other Factors Involving Children

Our firm is also highly adept at addressing issues of modification and enforcement to divorce decrees as well as legal and physical custody of children. Contact our firm to learn your options and to arrange a consultation.
